You need to put your time in. is something everyone has told me.
Mix some songs, learn some techniques, and then one day I’ll get my shot to show what I could do. Simple right?!
But it is actually a lot more work than that.
You need to start from the bottom and mix, mix, mix, mix, and mix until you move up to the next step. And once you move up to the next step, you do it all over again; mix, mix, mix, mix, and mix until you move up again.
You see, during all this time that you are mixing the bottom guys you are learning how to over come challenges and you are learning how to experiment.
Putting your time in isn’t about how long you are going to wait around until somebody puts you in the driver’s seat. It is getting your reps in and getting stronger at mixing music. So when you do face a challenge you are not limited to only one way to get out of it but many different ways that you have to choose which way you want to go about it.
